Visayas: The red alert status on the Visayas grid, originally set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, has been lifted after the forecast system demand decreased and imports from Mindanao resumed.

According to Philippines News Agency, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that the alert was lifted by 1 p.m. following a reduction in the forecast system demand by a total of 113 megawatts (MW) during the two-hour period. The advisory further mentioned that the import of capacity from the Mindanao grid has resumed, facilitated by the 49-MW Unit 1 of the 100MW diesel-powered Therma Marine Inc. Mobile 1 in Maco, Davao de Oro, which returned to operation.

Currently, the Visayas grid's capacity is forecast to be around 2,408MW. This capacity remains inadequate to meet the contingency requirement, as peak demand is projected to reach 2,298MW. Consequently, the yellow alert status will remain in place until 10 p.m., as noted in the advisory.
