ILOILO CITY: The Police Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas) has implemented heightened security protocols for First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who frequently visits Iloilo for various engagements. This development follows recent statements that have raised concerns regarding the safety of the First Family. According to Philippines News Agency, Brig. Gen. Jack Wank, director of PRO 6, emphasized the importance of ensuring the security of the First Lady. In a press conference, he stated, "That is our work to secure them. We will add more security. Because, as I have said, for a Vice President to be saying that, we should treat it as serious." Brig. Gen. Wank further mentioned that his office would be working closely with the Presidential Security Command to enhance the security arrangements for the First Family during their visits to the region. He assured support by saying, "Whatever their requirement, we are just here to support." The security measures come in response to a recent online statement made by V ice President Sara Duterte, who threatened potential harm to the First Family in the event of her own assassination. This has prompted local leaders to urge for peaceful resolutions and constructive dialogue. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas issued a statement urging national leaders to "prioritize resolving differences through peaceful dialogue, support the administration's efforts, and advance initiatives that will move our country forward."
