Iloilo: The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) is on full alert status as part of security measures for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday. 'While the main security preparations for the SONA are concentrated in Metro Manila, PRO6 remains proactive in securing our local communities and public spaces. We are fully committed to ensuring that the region remains peaceful and orderly,' Regional Director, Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, said in a statement.
According to Philippines News Agency, police units in the region are on heightened vigilance, monitoring for potential threats and reinforcing security protocols to safeguard communities and public spaces. Ligan also urged the public to ensure that any assemblies or activities remain peaceful and in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Col. Kim Legada issued directives on Sunday evening to ensure zero major SONA-related incidents here. 'I would like to appeal to the public, especially those planning illegal activities or acts contrary to the law, to exercise courtesy and respect. The ICPO will not hesitate to take appropriate action against anyone who violates the law,' Legada said in the statement.
He stated that they have strategically deployed sufficient personnel, mobile patrols, and anti-crowd disturbance management contingents ready to respond to any unauthorized mass actions or disruptions that may compromise public safety and order.
