Iloilo city: The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has confiscated over three kilograms of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP20.68 million and arrested 59 suspects in 49 operations from June 1-13. In a press conference on Monday, PRO6 Director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o said it was the highest shabu seizures among police regional offices in the country based on the Philippine National Police's operational performance evaluation for the period.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PRO-6 also emerged as the top-performing unit nationwide in the campaign against illegal logging, with 33 arrested persons in 77 operations. It ranked second nationwide in anti-smuggling and in the campaign against illegal fishing, with 122 violators apprehended in 268 operations. 'During this period, Police Regional Office 6 continued to demonstrate strong operational performance across key law enforcement campaigns while maintaining the peace and order situation throughout Western Visayas,' Tua±o said.
Tua±o said the accomplishments reflect the sustained commitment of their personnel in enforcing the law, protecting communities, and supporting the vision of the Chief PNP, Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. - Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman. Meanwhile, the intensified campaign against wanted persons netted 105 fugitives during the evaluation period.
Tua±o also reported that the region has recorded only 20 incidents under the eight focus crimes, placing the region among the Top 5 Police Regional Offices with the lowest crime incidence nationwide. This, he said, reflects the generally peaceful and orderly situation in Western Visayas. 'These accomplishments demonstrate the dedication and professionalism of our personnel in carrying out their mandate to protect the people and uphold the law. We will continue to strengthen our operational capabilities, foster stronger partnerships with stakeholders, and sustain our efforts against all forms of criminality,' Tua±o said.
