ILOILO CITY - Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) has mobilized 30 tankers to supply the areas experiencing low pressure to no water here. Mayor Jerry Treñas, in a statement on Thursday, said the lack of consistent access to water is a serious concern and residents must be ensured they have access to clean and reliable water. Treñas said he called MPIW chief operating officer David Berba, who assured him that in addition to water tankers, they would also deploy 2,000 jerry cans to affected barangays. 'I am also instructing MPIW to strictly follow the water schedule. Any deviation from this schedule must be fully justified and communicated promptly to the public. This situation requires immediate resolution, and we will not tolerate any delays in restoring water,' he said. On Wednesday, the city government met with MPIW officials to discuss plans to assist communities experiencing low pressure to no water due to the implementation of plant maintenance shutdown of one of its bulk water suppliers. Berba, dur ing the meeting, said the problem is just temporary. He said their normal supply level is around 75 million to 79 million liters per day, but the preventive maintenance reduced the water supply by around 70 percent. The hardly hit area is the City Proper area, he said. 'MPIW's sister company, Metro Dumaguete Water, mobilized its tankers to augment the water delivery to communities still experiencing intermittent water supply. Currently, there are 30 water tankers mobilized to deliver water to strategic areas with close to 100 trips per day,' said the MPIW statement on Thursday. Source: Philippines News agency
