Manila: Authorities confiscated PHP604 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 126 suspects in nationwide operations from May 21 to 28, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Sunday.
According to Philippines News Agency, PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez stated that the agency executed 88 operations across the country during the specified period. "This week-long anti-drug campaign reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting Filipino communities from the threats of illegal drugs," Nerez said in a statement.
'These accomplishments are significant, they are only part of our continuing mission. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, in close coordination with the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies, remains resolute in dismantling drug networks across the country,' he said.
The operations led to the seizure of 66,010.03 grams of shabu, 114.03 grams and 789 grams of cocaine powder, 606 ecstasy tablets, 478,005.10 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 424,788 marijuana plants, 260,180 marijuana seedlings, 946 grams of kush, 40 grams of concentrated marijuana oil, 10 grams of ketamine, and 184 grams of an unidentified brown substance.
Among those arrested were 66 drug pushers, 29 drug den visitors or clients, 13 drug den owners or maintainers, nine drug den employees, eight possessors, and one drug user. All suspects involved in illegal drug activities will face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA affirmed that the confiscated items currently in government custody will be utilized as evidence in upcoming court proceedings.
