‘Wild Imagination,’ Palace on Alleged Plot Against Sara Duterte and Allies

Manila: Malaca±ang on Thursday dismissed as a mere 'wild imagination' the insinuations that the Marcos administration is hatching a plan to jail Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies before the 2028 presidential race. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that Duterte and her political allies, including Senator Imee Marcos, need not worry because there is no such plan, labeling the accusations as creations of "fertile and wild imagination."

According to Philippines News Agency, Duterte earlier expressed concerns that the Marcos administration seems to be 'orchestrating something behind the scenes,' especially while public attention is focused on the ongoing investigation into questionable flood control projects. Senator Imee Marcos also claimed that a new strategy was being adopted to 'get rid' of Duterte before the 2028 elections.

Senator Marcos further alleged that Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla's bid for the Ombudsman post is part of the current administration's 'Plan C.' She suggested this plan follows failed attempts to unseat Duterte through a people's initiative to amend the Constitution and impeachment proceedings.

On Wednesday, Castro responded by advising the presidential sister to 'recalibrate her crystal ball' to ensure she picks up stories backed by evidence rather than relying on unsubstantiated rumors.
