YOSH HELPS NEEDY, COMMITTED TO ATTRACT YOUTHS’ PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Youth of Strength and Happiness (YOSH) under MyFundAction not only takes care of helping underprivileged people but also involves youth in conducting community activities.

YOSH north branch manager Maisarah Mohamad Jedin said this involvement is one of the organisation's main objectives, especially to impart knowledge and experience to the youth so that they can volunteer to serve the community.

"The role models and noble values imparted in this kind of voluntary service shape the personality and skills of individuals. Indeed, it is an opportunity for youth to learn new skills and knowledge.

"These include the spirit of cooperation between team members, communication with the local community and the ability to lead the team to success," she said when met at the Yayasan Amanah An-Nur Maisarah soup kitchen programme here.

Maisarah said a total of 300 people, comprising university and college students from Perak, Kedah, Penang and Perlis, have registered as YOSH members so far.

She said that among the programmes outlined were relief missions for the needy in the country and abroad.

"I participated in a relief mission for Palestinian refugees in Jordan last December,” she said.

A total of 47 YOSH MyFundAction volunteers from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Seri Iskandar, participated in the soup kitchen programme.
