Manila: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5): has initiated efforts to engage the youth across various provinces in the region, encouraging them to become advocates for peace and crime prevention.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon explained that this initiative is part of the Kabataan Kontra Kriminalidad (KKK) program. The program seeks to involve young people, including members of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT), out-of-school youth, Muslim youth, and indigenous peoples (IP) youth, in crime prevention efforts. Dizon emphasized that the program aims to foster a sense of responsibility, awareness, and partnership between law enforcement and the youth.
The initiative encourages active participation of young people in community safety projects, promoting leadership and responsibility while strengthening the bond between police and communities. Youth participants will partake in seminars, trainings, and outreach activities, as well as engage in community programs focused on crime prevention.
Events following the program's launch in Sorsogon on February 1 are scheduled for Camarines Norte, Masbate, Catanduanes, Albay, and Camarines Sur throughout February. This expansion aims to equip more young individuals with the necessary knowledge and resources to contribute actively to crime prevention and community safety.
Dizon highlighted that by addressing the root causes of crime and providing young individuals with the tools needed to effect change, the program empowers them to become agents of positive transformation in their communities. PRO-5 remains committed to engaging and empowering the youth as "Guardians of Peace," instilling a strong sense of responsibility and community ownership to pave the way for a future where young individuals play a crucial role in fostering a safer, more peaceful society.
