Davao City Covid-19 TF requests booster shots for front-liners

Mayor Sara Z. Duterte on Monday said the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force has passed a resolution requesting the Department of Health in Davao Region (DOH-11) to roll out booster shots for healthcare workers in all of the city’s hospitals.

The resolution came after various hospitals announced that their manpower has severely been depleted due to the challenges brought by the coronavirus disease 2019.

“It was discussed and that was the action of the Covid-19 Task Force. We passed a resolution seeking permission and request the approval from DOH-11,” Duterte said.

She also said that Covid-19 outbreaks in the city’s hospitals were to blame for the shortage of health workers.

“It has been the [perennial problem] in the hospitals since last year,” Duterte added.

She also reiterated to the Dabawenyos to observe minimum public health standards to help the frontline workers.

Duterte also encouraged work-from-home and skeletal work arrangements among city government employees to help slow down the spread of the virus.

“It is something we need to do. It is our contribution to our health workers inside the hospitals who are tired, overworked, and swamp with Covid-19 cases. We endeavor to reduce the infections among City Government of Davao employees so that if there’s a reduction of infections among our employees, we are less of a burden to our health care workers,” she said.
