The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has restored power to all transmission lines damaged by Typhoon Jolina, the system’s operator has reported.
The Visayas grid’s last affected line, the Calbayog-Bliss 69kV line, was restored at 7:33 a.m. on Friday.
“Transmission services in other affected areas are now under normal operations as NGCP successfully completed the restoration of lines affected by the typhoon,” the NGCP said in its update sent to reporters.
The NGCP mobilized its line crews to restore power in areas in the region hit by widespread power outages when the typhoon crossed the region on Sept. 6 and 7.
Strong winds brought by “Jolina” caused widespread power failures in Leyte and Samar provinces affecting 286,243 power consumers, the NGCP reported on Sept. 7.
The lights went out late Sept. 6 in some parts of Leyte and Eastern Samar while Samar areas experienced power outages before dawn the following day.
Troubled transmission lines include Paranas-Borongan-Quinapondan 69kV line, Sta. Rita-Quinapondan 69kV line, Babatngon-Arado 69kV line, Paranas-Bliss 69kV line, Calbayog-Bliss 69kV line.
The earliest restoration was completed in the afternoon of Sept. 7, bringing back power supplies in Tacloban and nearby towns and some parts of Eastern Samar province.
