Manila: Daniella Uy kept her composure in the final round shootout to beat Chanelle Avaricio by two strokes and secure the ICTSI Bacolod Golf Challenge title in Murcia, Negros Occidental on Thursday. Uy carded a 68 to finish with a 202 total, claiming the champion's purse of PHP117,000. Avaricio, who needed a birdie on the final hole to force a playoff, had a 70 for a 204 total and settled for PHP82,000. "It was a roller-coaster round. I bogeyed the first but bounced back with birdies. I also had several missed birdie chances, but I stayed focused," Uy said on her performance. "There was pressure, but it felt more like excitement since it was such a tight match. It gave me confidence to hit the pin and sink those birdies," she added. It was Uy's fifth career title after winning three last year and one in 2021. Princess Superal shot a 67 to finish third at 208, pocketing PHP65,000, while Velinda Castil (72) and Jiwon Lee (74) were tied for fourth at 213 in the penultimate leg of the 10-stage Ladies Phili ppine Golf Tour presented by Negros Electric and Power Corp. The showdown between Uy and Avaricio at the Bacolod Golf and Country Club was one of the most intense finishes ever seen on the tournament organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. "This win means a lot to me. It will definitely boost my confidence as I head back to the Taiwan tour," Uy said. Source: Philippines News agency
