The Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) is considering the use of its police camps in the region as coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination sites.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., the PRO-13 director, said in a statement Friday afternoon that the move was in response to the call of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to all government agencies to expedite the inoculation of Filipinos.

“A memorandum was already sent to the five police provincial offices, the Butuan City Police Office, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13,” Caramat said.

He added that unit commanders of the police offices are directed to determine potential camps in their respective areas of responsibility to be partly used as vaccination sites.

A total of 25 potential vaccination areas in the different police camps in the region are subject to evaluation based on the order released by the PRO-13 chief.

These include 19 possible vaccination sites in the different police camps in Surigao del Sur; two in Surigao del Norte; one each in the provinces of Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, and Dinagat Islands; and one in Butuan City.

“More Filipinos need to have immediate access to the Covid-19 vaccine to keep everybody safe from the severity of the disease,” Caramat said.

The PRO-13, he pointed out, is aware of the situation where many residents want to get vaccinated but are hindered by factors like the proximity of their residence to the vaccination areas.

“PRO-13 will provide all possible support to government’s efforts in ensuring the public’s safety amid the global pandemic we are facing,” Caramat said.
