Camarines sur: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) distributed food stamps to more than 1,800 families across various towns in Camarines Sur on Tuesday. DSWD-5 Director Norman Laurio reported that beneficiaries from the towns of Cabusao, Lagonoy, Ocampo, Baao, Bula, and Lupi collected PHP3,000 worth of food items under the 'Walang Gutom' (Zero Hunger) program.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PHP3,000 worth of credits on electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards can be used to purchase food supplies from DSWD-accredited retailers. Beneficiaries can buy fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products, meat, and poultry products.
Meanwhile, the DSWD extended livelihood aid to typhoon-affected microbusiness owners in Camarines Sur through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). The DSWD distributed PHP11.34 million in livelihood support to 567 residents of San Fernando town after microbusinesses were destroyed by the Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in October 2024.
Grants of PHP20,000 per SLP participant were also distributed at San Fernando Municipal Covered Court on July 31. "The recipients can use the support to rebuild their microenterprises, helping them regain sustainable sources of income," he said.
