Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 13 (Caraga Region) has successfully replenished 10,900 boxes of family food packs (FFPs) in the province of Dinagat Islands as of Tuesday. The move comes after the province's FFP supplies were nearly depleted due to ongoing relief efforts for victims of recent natural disasters.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD-13 highlighted in a statement on Wednesday that the restocking of the FFPs was necessary to continue providing aid. The replenished food packs have been strategically prepositioned in critical areas and warehouses across the Dinagat Islands to ensure swift distribution when needed.
Last month, the island province received substantial support from DSWD-13 following the devastating impacts of two major weather disturbances, typhoons Tino and Uwan. The DSWD-13 emphasized that this initiative is a part of the department's comprehensive disaster preparedness and response strategy, which is aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to ensure prompt assistance and prevent hunger during emergencies.
In addition to the recent replenishment, DSWD-13 announced last week the delivery of 10,000 boxes of FFPs from the Visayas Disaster Resource Center to the Caraga Region. This delivery was part of an immediate replenishment effort for the agency's warehouse.
The replenishment is part of a larger request by DSWD-13 for 90,864 boxes to be stockpiled and pre-positioned. This measure aims to guarantee that food assistance remains readily available and accessible throughout disaster-prone periods.
