Cilacap: The death toll from a landslide that struck Indonesia's Central Java province has risen to 11, with 12 others still missing as search and rescue operations continued on Sunday, according to an official. M. Abdullah, head of the Search and Rescue Office in Cilacap, where the landslide occurred, stated that authorities are persisting in their efforts to locate the remaining 12 victims after 11 bodies have been recovered.
According to Philippines News Agency, Abdullah expressed hope that all victims who are still buried would be found. During Sunday's rescue operation, his team deployed hundreds of personnel and several pieces of heavy machinery, including excavators. "We have deployed 21 excavators, 17 compressor support tools, nine search dogs, and more than 600 personnel," Abdullah said.
On Friday, Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency had reported that 20 people were missing and three were confirmed dead following the landslide in Cilacap on Thursday.
