12-Hour Power Outage Scheduled in Parts of Albay for Maintenance Activities

Albay: A scheduled 12-hour power interruption will affect several towns in Albay on Friday, as announced by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP). The power outage is set to occur from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

According to Philippines News Agency, the interruption is necessary for maintenance activities at the Daraga and Sto. Domingo substations, as well as along the Daraga - Sto. Domingo 69 kilovolt (kV) line. Joyce Balancio, NGCP's lead specialist for government relations and regional affairs, stated that the specific areas affected would be determined by the Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco).

Anj Galero, Aleco's public information officer, confirmed that the outage would impact the entire Sto. Domingo area and the island barangays of Bacacay, Malilipot, and Tabaco City. Aleco will undertake parallel activities during the schedule, such as extensive line clearing, load transfers from another substation, and the relocation of line reclosers.

Galero explained that circuits from some areas under the Sta. Mesirecordia substation would be connected to the Salvacion substation. She mentioned that once the load transfer is completed, central barangays would experience fewer interruptions due to reduced overload. Galero also reminded the public to always assume that all distribution lines are energized.
