Davao city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-11) is set to provide cash relief assistance to 1,891 tricycle drivers across six municipalities in Davao del Sur from April 21 to 23. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial strain on transport workers affected by escalating fuel prices due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Each eligible driver will receive PHP5,000.
According to Philippines News Agency, this national government program is part of the DSWD's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation initiative, which helps public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers manage their families' living expenses amid increasing operational costs. The distribution will occur in Bansalan and Magsaysay on April 22, followed by Sta. Cruz, Kiblawan, and Malalag on the same day, and Padada on April 23.
Drivers must possess a valid permit and driver's license to qualify for the subsidy. During the distribution, they are required to present their original driver's license along with a photocopy that includes three specimen signatures. "Only qualified beneficiaries will claim the assistance. Proxy is not allowed," DSWD-11 emphasized.
The agency also urged beneficiaries to liaise with their Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office should they receive any text notifications requesting additional information.
