2 Minors Among 6 Killed in Pangasinan Residential Fire

Urdaneta city: Six individuals, including two minors and a septuagenarian, lost their lives in a fire that engulfed a residential area in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. According to Philippines News Agency, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office information officer Capt. Aileen Catugas stated that the fire destroyed two houses in Zone 2, Barangay Nancayasan. The victims were identified as a 72-year-old female, a 59-year-old female, two males in their 40s, and two 11-year-old females. Personnel from the Urdaneta City Police Station received a call about the blaze at 3 a.m. on Monday and coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), who were the first responders on the scene. The Urdaneta City BFP reported that the fire began around 2 a.m. on April 20. The BFP's investigation revealed that a 36-year-old female resident and her 12-year-old son noticed smoke emanating from the kitchen below their house at approximately 2 a.m. Upon investigation, they discovered that the kitchen was already filled with smoke, and the fire had spread throughout the area. Fortunately, they managed to escape the fire. The BFP declared the fire out at about 4:49 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the cost of damage has yet to be determined by the BFP.
