27 Naga City Villages to Benefit from PHP200,000 Presidential Aid

Naga city: Twenty-seven villages in Naga City are set to receive PHP200,000 each from the Presidential Support Fund, as announced by Mayor Leni Robredo during the city's flag-raising ceremony.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Robredo emphasized that half of the allocated amount is designated for a scholarship program. This initiative aims to support five graduating students per barangay, offering PHP20,000 in financial assistance to each student. "The scholarship is intended for graduating students or, if necessary, third-year students, with the objective of increasing the number of college graduates," Robredo stated at the event.

Robredo further clarified that Malaca±ang has opted for a more substantial PHP20,000 assistance per student rather than the usual PHP3,000, which limits the program to five scholars per barangay. The remaining PHP100,000 from the fund will be allocated for the purchase of essential equipment needed by the villages.

Each village has submitted resolutions outlining their intended use of the funds, Robredo explained. "Some will invest in tables and chairs, while others plan to acquire computers, sound systems, and CCTV units," she noted. The mayor expressed her aspiration for the support fund to become a recurring annual allocation to continually aid the communities.
