Manila: The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) announced its comprehensive preparation to enhance national security measures for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-3 chief Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Pe±ones Jr. stated that 2,700 personnel would be deployed as part of the Sub Task Group Central Luzon. This group operates under the Philippine National Police's (PNP) larger Task Force Manila Shield, a directive from PNP chief Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III, to fortify security coordination across Metro Manila, particularly at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City, where the SONA will occur.
Pe±ones Jr. emphasized the collaboration with the PNP and the nation to ensure a safe and peaceful SONA 2025. He highlighted their readiness to maintain law and order while respecting the rights of Filipinos to express their views freely. Furthermore, Pe±ones assured that all PRO-3 personnel are trained to exercise maximum tolerance, adhering to principles of discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
As President Marcos approaches the midpoint of his term with his fourth SONA, security protocols are expected to tighten across key areas. Pe±ones called on the public to cooperate with authorities and stay vigilant, noting that the PRO-3 deployment is part of a national effort to ensure public safety and safeguard democratic space during this significant political event.
