29 Drug Suspects Arrested and PHP1.3 Million in Illegal Drugs Seized in Bicol

Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) arrested 29 individuals and seized more than PHP1.3 million in illegal drugs during a weeklong anti-illegal drug operation conducted from May 19 to 25.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon reported that the arrests were the outcome of 26 operations, which resulted in the confiscation of a total of 193.47 grams of shabu and 50.10 grams of marijuana. The estimated street value of the confiscated illegal drugs amounted to PHP1.32 million.

In Albay, 10 suspects were apprehended, and PHP522,580 worth of illegal drugs were seized. In Camarines Norte, eight individuals were arrested with drugs valued at PHP67,048. In Camarines Sur, five individuals were detained, along with PHP18,780 worth of drugs.

Five additional suspects were apprehended in separate operations in Naga City, leading to the confiscation of illegal substances valued at PHP373,200. In Masbate, one suspect was arrested with illegal drugs valued at PHP340,000.

Dizon stated that the sustained operations are part of a region-wide effort to eliminate drug-related crimes and dismantle drug networks. The Bicol police will continue to collaborate closely with local government units and community stakeholders to strengthen information gathering and ensure swift action against individuals and groups involved in the drug trade.
