Pandi: A total of 3,012 members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers' Associations (TODA) in this town received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at the Mamerto C. Bernardo Memorial Central School on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Pandi Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Erwin Vicente stated that each beneficiary received PHP5,000 in cash aid through the Cash Relief Assistance program. This initiative aims to help tricycle drivers manage the impact of rising fuel prices, ensuring they can continue their daily operations despite economic challenges.

Vicente noted that the assistance seeks to mitigate the effects of current energy challenges associated with tensions in the Middle East, which have contributed to increasing fuel costs.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely support. Mario Domingo, president of the Patubig, Bunsura, Malibong Bata TODA, highlighted the aid's importance for sustaining his livelihood and meeting his family's needs. He expressed appreciation to President Bongbong Marcos, Mayor Rico Roque, and the DSWD, noting the significant increase in gasoline prices and his plans to use the funds for gasoline, food, and household expenses.

Mayor Roque extended his gratitude to the local teams and volunteers from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) and the local government for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the successful distribution of the cash aid.

The financial assistance was part of the DSWD's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
