Quezon city: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned a driver and operator of a Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) taxi following a traffic incident in Quezon City that involved a multiple-vehicle collision with eight motorcycles, resulting in injuries to several individuals.
According to Philippines News Agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao stated that the incident occurred at the intersection of 20th Avenue and Aurora Boulevard. The collision, which was captured on video, posed significant danger to motorists and other road users, in addition to causing damage to the motorcycles involved.
In a decisive response, the LTO issued a show cause order to both the registered owner and driver of the GSM taxi unit. The individuals are required to provide a written explanation as to why they should not face administrative charges, including 'Reckless Driving, Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, and Employing a Reckless, Insolent, Discourteous, or Arrogant Driver.'
Currently, the driver involved in the incident has been temporarily suspended for 90 days. Additionally, the vehicle has been placed on alert status while the investigation is ongoing. The undated video, which gained traction on social media, depicted the aftermath of the GSM taxi colliding with the motorcycles, with one motorcycle lodged under the taxi's front bumper as it came to a halt.
