31 Antique Athletes to Represent Western Visayas in National Sports Meet

Ilocos Norte: Thirty-one athletes from Antique have joined the Western Visayas delegation for the 2025 Palarong Pambansa, scheduled to take place in Ilocos Norte from May 24 to June 2.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Oliver Servillon, the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique Sports coordinator, announced that the athletes arrived in Ilocos Norte on Monday. They will commence their familiarization with the playing venues on Wednesday.

Dr. Servillon expressed optimism about the athletes' performance, particularly in swimming, taekwondo, and dance sports. He noted that the athletes are expected to win gold not only for their home province but also for the region. This confidence is based on their previous success at the regional sports meet hosted by Antique in March.

Among the athletes selected for the regional delegation are Brico Pe, who secured Antique's first gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke, and Ronin Manjares Pe, who excelled in the individual taekwondo poomsae category during the regional sports meet.

The provincial government has allocated a budget of PHP4.2 million to cover the athletes' playing uniforms and allowances. Each athlete is receiving a daily allowance of PHP600.
