Manila: A total of 36 families in Pangasinan have preemptively evacuated due to rising water levels at a river near their residences on Tuesday. In an interview, Vincent Chiu, operations chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said 19 families are from Alaminos City and 17 from Bani town. "The families are still staying in evacuation centers," he stated.
According to Philippines News Agency, flooding has also been reported in Bolinao, Labrador, Lingayen, Pozorrubio, and Balungao towns, as well as in Dagupan City. Chiu also reported a mini landslide in Bolinao; however, all provincial and national roads in the province remain passable. "We remain under blue alert status probably until Thursday," Chiu mentioned, adding that there have been no reported casualties or injuries so far.
The provincial government is implementing localized suspension of classes and work, leaving the decision to local government units based on their specific situations. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued a weather advisory on Tuesday morning, indicating that the heavy rainfall outlook in Pangasinan would range from 100 millimeters to 200 millimeters until Wednesday noon due to a low-pressure area and enhanced southwest monsoon.
