SHFC Signs Agreement with PCUP, Awards Land Titles to Urban Poor Beneficiaries

Caloocan city: The Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) on Tuesday signed a partnership agreement with the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) and awarded land titles to 20 beneficiaries as it launched the month-long celebration of the 38th anniversary of the Community Mortgage Program (CMP). SHFC President and Chief Executive Officer Federico Laxa and PCUP chairperson Undersecretary Michelle Anne Gonzales signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in expanding access to government housing programs for more urban poor communities.

According to Philippines News Agency, the agency also awarded transfer certificates of title to beneficiaries from the Samahang Mapalad ng Amparo Homeowners Association and Villa Enrico Heights Homeowners Association Phase V in Caloocan City, and the Samahang Magkakapitbahay ng Rosepacking Homeowners Association Inc. in Valenzuela City. SHFC said the title distribution marks the start of similar awarding activities nationwide during the month-long CMP anniversary celebration.

The celebration, themed "Bahay, Buhay, Magandang Kinabukasan," highlights the CMP's role in providing secure land tenure and expanding access to affordable housing. In a statement, Samahang Mapalad ng Amparo President Carmelia Maglinao thanked SHFC for awarding land titles to members of their association. She said the titles provide families with security of tenure and hope for a better future.

The CMP is one of SHFC's flagship housing programs under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
