Pasay City: Thirty-eight former Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) workers have successfully secured new jobs during the special job fair organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The event took place from November 19 to 20 and aimed to provide employment opportunities for displaced workers. According to Philippines News Agency, the DOLE announced on Thursday that out of the total hired applicants, 38 were displaced or would-be displaced Internet Gaming Licensees (IGL) workers. These individuals were part of the 138 hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) candidates identified through the DOLE Action Plan and Transition Project (DAPAT). This initiative is in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to assist workers affected by industry changes. The DOLE reported that the 138 HOTS accounted for 15.72 percent of the 865 jobseekers who registered for the fair. The event featured 790 participating employers from various industries, offering a total of 12,378 job vacancies.
