Pasay city: Four individuals were arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after they were caught carrying 151.3 kilograms of suspected kush, a high-grade form of marijuana, with an estimated street value of PHP227 million, the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) reported.
According to Philippines News Agency, PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Edwin Quilates stated that the suspects, identified by their aliases Jenet, Bryan, Cyril, and Erwin, were detained during a controlled delivery operation conducted at the International Customs Arrival Area of NAIA Terminal 3 on September 7. The arrested individuals and the confiscated evidence were promptly transferred to the PDEA Laboratory Service National Headquarters in Quezon City for examination.
The operation was executed in cooperation with the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, which includes the PDEG as a participating member.
In a separate operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 9 (PDEA RO9) apprehended a drug suspect and confiscated PHP6.8 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City. The suspect, known by the alias Almisal, was found with one kilogram of suspected shabu hidden in a gold tea pack labeled Guanyinwang. The suspect is set to face charges under Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
