Support for Local Films and TV Encouraged by President Marcos in New Infomercial

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to support local films and television as a means of nation-building, during the launch of the Responsableng Panonood Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas (RP2BP) campaign's infomercial, 'Tara, Nood Tayo!'

According to Philippines News Agency, the President was joined by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and members of the First Family. He emphasized that the campaign highlights government backing for the creative sector as an essential component of cultural identity, economic development, and national pride. President Marcos expressed solidarity with the private sector, his family, and the government in supporting Filipino films and television programs, emphasizing the pride in the Filipino narrative.

The First Lady, a long-time proponent of arts and media, supported the initiative, underscoring the need to cultivate a culture of support for local content among Filipino families.

The 'Tara, Nood Tayo!' infomercial is designed to promote responsible viewing habits while encouraging audiences to opt for Filipino films, shows, and creative content. It also aims to celebrate the skills of Filipino artists, producers, directors, cinema operators, and distributors.

The initiative is led by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board under Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto, in collaboration with the Presidential Communications Office, the Office of the Executive Secretary, and the Philippine Information Agency.

Chairperson Sotto expressed gratitude to the President and the First Family for their 'unwavering support,' noting that the campaign represents 'a shared vision to uplift the Filipino creative industry while instilling a culture of responsible and informed viewing.'

Major networks such as ABS-CBN, GMA Network, TV5, and AMBS-ALLTV are supporting the campaign, committing to nurture Filipino storytelling and preserve the cultural and historical significance of Philippine cinema.

The infomercial is set to broadcast nationwide across traditional and digital platforms, with particular attention to engaging younger audiences, who are pivotal in advancing the growth of the country's media and entertainment sectors.
