Butuan city: Forty-three local government units (LGUs) in the Caraga Region are now utilizing the Electronic Local Government (eLGU) System, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-13) reported Friday. "The number is 59 percent of the 73 LGUs in the region that we target for orientation and training until 2026 for full utilization of the system," said Lourdesita Deresco, the program's focal person, in an interview.
According to Philippines News Agency, the use of the eLGU System is mandated by Republic Act 11032, also known as the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018. This comprehensive system is designed to simplify LGU services and processes, ensuring convenience and efficiency for the public.
Among the LGUs currently using the system, 16 are in Surigao del Sur, 13 in Surigao del Norte, eight in Agusan del Norte, and three each in Dinagat Islands and Agusan del Sur.
Deresco said 15 more LGUs are set to adopt the system this year, having already undergone training and submitted their letters of intent along with other required documents for the program.
DICT-13 also acknowledged the ongoing support from other government agencies in implementing the system among LGUs in the region, including the Anti-Red Tape Authority and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
