Negros oriental: At least 1,625 job vacancies are available for the upcoming Handog ng Pangulo Job Fair set to take place on September 14 in Negros Oriental. The event will also feature the distribution of various government assistance programs, an official revealed on Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Alein Serion Balsamo, the manager of the Negros Oriental Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and Gender and Development Focal, stated that the job vacancies include 846 local positions and 779 overseas employment opportunities. Balsamo noted that the number of available positions might increase ahead of the job fair.
In addition to employment opportunities, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will release its 40 percent counterpart funding for 300 beneficiaries of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) during the event. Each beneficiary will receive PHP639.14 per day for 20 days, totaling PHP12,782.80. The provincial government is responsible for 60 percent of the daily wage, while DOLE provides the remaining 40 percent, as explained by Balsamo.
Balsamo highlighted that the provincial government had previously released more than PHP2.3 million during the last job fair as its contribution, while DOLE is set to provide over PHP1.5 million, raising the total funding for the 300 SPES beneficiaries to over PHP3.8 million. Additionally, DOLE will conduct a payout for 450 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program on the same day.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) will establish a service area to deliver its programs, including assistance distribution to Aksyon Fund and ELPOR beneficiaries. It will also offer overseas employment services, supervise an overseas job fair, and conduct an anti-illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons campaign, along with an overseas Filipino workers help desk, Balsamo mentioned.
The Handog ng Pangulo Job Fair is organized by the Negros Oriental provincial government in collaboration with DOLE, DMW, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, alongside other government agencies that will provide services during the event.
