Manila: A magnitude 5.4 earthquake shook parts of Northern Luzon on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. The quake's epicenter was located 31 kilometers northwest of Luna, La Union.
According to Philippines News Agency, the earthquake struck at approximately 10:36 a.m., was tectonic in origin, and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. The tremor was felt at varying intensities across several regions. Intensity IV was recorded in the cities of Candon and Vigan in Ilocos Sur. Intensity II was felt in Sinait and Tagudin in Ilocos Sur; Bangued, Abra; San Fernando and Aringay in La Union; as well as Bani, Infanta, and Bolinao in Pangasinan. Baguio City experienced the quake at Intensity I.
Phivolcs has issued a warning of potential damage and has advised the public to exercise caution due to expected aftershocks following the earthquake.
