Makati: The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) announced the arrest of seven individuals, including five foreigners, for their alleged involvement in operating an illegal gambling hub in Makati City.
According to Philippines News Agency, CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano revealed during a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City that the arrests were made on August 15. The detained individuals include three male Taiwanese, one male Myanmar national, one female Chinese, and two Filipino women. They were reportedly involved in an illegal internet gaming operation offering online gambling services outside the Philippines.
Authorities confiscated numerous items from the suspects, including 59 computer monitors, 27 desktop computers, 10 computer processor units, various information communication technology devices, 25 pre-registered SIM cards, 227 assorted identification cards, and business documents. The individuals are currently under police custody and are set to face charges for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602, in relation to Executive Order No. 74, Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and Republic Act No. 8484 (Access Devices Act of 1998).
