This city has recorded at least 51 dengue hospital admissions since January this year, as cases continue to soar.
As of Thursday, the city logged 1,444 dengue cases and 14 related deaths, according to Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, in an interview.
On April 8, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) declared a dengue outbreak here.
At least 15 of the 98 barangays of this city have recorded high cases of dengue, Miravite said.
These are the villages of Tetuan, 97; San Roque, 93; Sta. Maria, 90; Mercedes, 75; Putik, 73; Pasonanca, 70; Tumaga, 64; Calarian, 52; Divisoria, 48; Boalan, 46; Culianan, 44; Guiwan, 42; San Jose Gusu, 39; Tugbungan, 37; and, Cabatangan, 35.
Miravite strongly urged residents to observe the 4 o’clock habit with the “4S” strategy to curb cases of dengue in the city.

The “4S” Kontra Dengue involves measures to search and destroy breeding sites, particularly stagnant waters; seek early consultation; use self-protection such as insect repellent and using long sleeves and pants; and, say ‘yes’ to fogging in areas where cases are high
Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes called Aedes aegypti, which usually bite between two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset.
The most common symptoms are fever with any of the following: nausea, vomiting, rashes, aches, and pains, like eye pain or typically behind the eyes, muscle, joints, or bones.
