5th State of the Nation Address Ends Peacefully with No Major Incidents

Manila: The fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. concluded without any major incidents, as described by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. He reported that the event was "generally peaceful and orderly," with no violent occurrences recorded throughout the day.

According to Philippines News Agency, the peaceful outcome of the SONA was credited to the well-coordinated security efforts by various agencies, including the police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Quezon City local government. Nartatez highlighted the dedication and hard work of personnel and partner agencies as key factors in the successful execution of security measures.

The PNP deployed over 20,000 police officers across Metro Manila to ensure the safety and security of the event. These officers were responsible for securing key government installations, managing traffic, and coordinating with partner agencies. Nartatez expressed gratitude and commendation to all units and personnel involved, acknowledging their role in maintaining order during the SONA.

Nartatez also praised groups that held rallies and other activities for their cooperation and adherence to rules and regulations. National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin echoed Nartatez's sentiments, confirming that the SONA concluded without any significant incidents.

However, there were reports of vandalism, with 51 individuals caught in the act, including 13 minors and three paralegals. The situation was managed without escalating into major disturbances.
