Iloilo city: Sixty overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by global tensions each received PHP10,000 financial assistance from the provincial government on Monday. Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who represented Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., stated that the Ilonggo OFWs were impacted by conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to Philippines News Agency, the governor instructed the PSWDO (Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office) and PESO (Public Employment Service Office) to distribute the PHP10,000 aid, which was successfully facilitated in the morning. The cash aid is sourced from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, a fund allocated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for the province of Iloilo.
This financial assistance aims to provide immediate relief to workers whose livelihoods and sources of income have been disrupted by international crises. Banias emphasized that funds will remain available for OFWs who are confirmed to be affected by these global tensions.
