Bacolod city: The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has accredited 60 Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) health facilities in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City that provide an expanded primary care benefit package focusing on preventive and promotive healthcare.
According to Philippines News Agency, data revealed that these facilities include 34 rural health units (RHUs), primary care facilities (PCFs), municipal health offices (MHOs), and city health offices (CHOs), alongside 17 hospital facilities and nine private clinics and laboratories. In an interview, PhilHealth-Bacolod information officer Christine Mirano explained that members must get assigned to their chosen YAKAP clinic to avail of the primary care benefits.
Mirano detailed, "Once assigned to a YAKAP clinic, the member can set an appointment. There are three options to get assigned to your chosen YAKAP clinic." Members can use the eGovPH mobile app, register their account, navigate to the PhilHealth portal, and add their preferred YAKAP clinic. Alternatively, members can access the PhilHealth Member Portal online or visit the nearest PhilHealth office.
The initial patient appointment is crucial for health assessment and data collection with an accredited YAKAP provider, allowing beneficiaries to access primary care consultations, laboratory tests, and maintenance medicines. YAKAP, a flagship program under the Universal Health Care framework, encompasses consultation, health risk screening and assessment, 13 laboratory tests, and 21 drugs and medicines.
The outpatient drug benefit is facilitated through the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) Program, in collaboration with pharmaceutical service providers. The accredited RHUs, PCFs, MHOs, and CHOs are spread across various cities including Bacolod City, Bago City, Cadiz City, Escalante City, Himamaylan City, and others.
The accredited hospitals include Alfredo E. Mara±on Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Sagay City, Bago City Hospital, Cadiz District Hospital, and several others in the region. Additionally, the list of private clinics and laboratories features facilities like Medisense Clinic and Laboratory Center Inc., Leonard Baraquia Medical Clinic, and ICM Manila Inc., primarily located in Bacolod City and surrounding areas.
