Surigao del sur: The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 13 (Caraga Region) announced that 81 workers in Surigao del Sur have been granted settlement payments amounting to PHP1.2 million this year through its Single-Entry Approach (SEnA) program.
According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE-13 revealed in a Thursday statement that the cases, brought forth by private company workers, included claims related to service incentive leave, final pay, illegal dismissal, and minimum wage issues. The settlement amounts were distributed as of September under the SEnA program.
The DOLE-13 emphasized that SEnA is a non-litigious and cost-free method for resolving labor disputes, addressing workplace issues through conciliation-mediation. It reported that out of 57 requests filed for assistance at the provincial DOLE office during the period, 49 were resolved, resulting in a settlement rate of 92.45 percent.
Genebelle Bal, head of DOLE-Surigao del Sur, stated, "Through conciliation, we help both the workers and employers find fair and practical solutions by building stronger and more productive workplaces, and preserving industrial harmony."
The agency further acknowledged the efforts of its desk officers in promptly addressing requests, which played a crucial role in preventing disputes from escalating. SEnA is institutionalized through Republic Act 10396, strengthening conciliation-mediation as a voluntary mode of dispute settlement for all labor cases.
DOLE-13 underscored the significance of these achievements, stating, "These achievements underscore the continued relevance and impact of the SEnA program in fostering peaceful, just, and equitable work environments."
