810 TUPAD Workers to Assist in Antique Schools’ Brigada Eskwela

Antique: A total of 810 beneficiaries from the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers program will be deployed to support the Brigada Eskwela initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique. These workers will be involved in various tasks such as cleaning school premises, arranging classroom furniture, and repainting classrooms.

According to Philippines News Agency, Benjie Requintina, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, mentioned that the deployment will take place in four municipalities currently implementing the program: Belison, Tibiao, Libertad, and Sebaste. The initiative is set to occur from June 1-5, following a memorandum of agreement established on May 13 between the central offices of DOLE and DepEd.

Despite their assistance in the Brigada Eskwela, the TUPAD beneficiaries will continue to receive their wages from DOLE. Requintina confirmed that after their five-day deployment at the schools, the workers might either proceed with tasks outlined in their respective municipalities' approved program of works or continue their service in the schools. Each beneficiary is set to earn PHP5,500 for ten days of work through this program.
