Manila: Telecommunications company PLDT is set to offer solar power solutions to the public through a subscription bundle with its existing internet services. In a move to integrate renewable energy with digital connectivity, PLDT aims to provide customers with a seamless and cost-effective way to manage both their internet and electricity needs.
According to Philippines News Agency, PLDT announced its plan to introduce a pioneering collaboration with a solar energy provider. This initiative combines high-speed internet connectivity with renewable energy systems, offering a dual solution that addresses both connectivity and energy efficiency. The company highlighted that initial test marketing activities have shown strong consumer interest in this integrated service, which promises both convenience and long-term savings.
PLDT emphasized that the new offering would allow subscribers to access solar infrastructure through affordable monthly payments spread over several years. This financial model is designed to lower the significant upfront costs typically associated with solar energy adoption, thereby making it more accessible to a broader range of households.
Butch Jimenez, PLDT's chief operating officer, remarked on the future-proofing potential of solar infrastructure for homes. He stated, "If people can have solar panels installed together with internet in one go, it should be very compelling for our customers." This bundled approach aims to simplify the process for consumers, encouraging the adoption of sustainable energy solutions.
John Palanca, head of PLDT Home, added that expanding the company's services to include solar power solutions aligns with their goal of enhancing customers' homes in the most convenient way possible. "This also helps PLDT own the whole home, and not just the internet portion. We're excited to announce the full details soon," Palanca said, indicating that more information will be revealed in the near future.
