Manila: A total of 97 domestic and international flights have been canceled due to continuous heavy rains and the anticipated impact of Tropical Storm Dante, internationally known as Francisco. On Wednesday, low-cost carriers Cebu Pacific and AirAsia announced the cancellation of several flights, affecting routes including Manila to Busuanga, Naga, Caticlan, Legazpi, Kalibo, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, Pagadian, Butuan, Davao, and others.
According to Philippines News Agency, the cancellations also affected flights announced on Tuesday night by Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines, which included 51 flights scheduled for Wednesday. These flights covered routes such as Manila to Naga, Cauayan, Roxas, Laoag, Tuguegarao, San Jose (Mindoro), Dumaguete, Ozamiz, Zamboanga, Virac, and international routes like Manila to Hong Kong and Bangkok.
The affected passengers of these flights have been provided options to rebook, reroute, or refund their tickets. The southwest monsoon, intensified by Tropical Cyclones Emong and Dante, continues to bring heavy rains and strong gusts in many areas, particularly across Luzon.
