Manila: The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has disbursed PHP227.5 million to the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) for claims filed under its newly enhanced benefit package for Ischemic Heart Disease-Acute Myocardial Infarction (IHD-AMI), commonly known as heart attacks.
According to Philippines News Agency, the payment covers the hospitalization and treatment of 459 patients from December 21, 2024, to July 18, 2025. This considerable financial commitment is a direct result of PhilHealth's significant increase in case rates for heart attack-related procedures. These procedures include Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), which has seen an increase from PHP30,300 to PHP523,853, Fibrinolysis from PHP30,290 to PHP133,500, Emergency Medical Services with Interfacility Transfer at PHP21,900, and Cardiac Rehabilitation post-PCI at PHP66,140.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has confirmed PhilHealth's financial capability to support the delivery of uninterrupted healthcare services. The state insurer has previously encouraged accredited health providers to maximize the expanded benefit packages and has assured them of continued financial support through its improved fund release mechanisms.
