Agusan Sur Allocates PHP5 Million for Cebu Earthquake Relief

Cebu: Officials from the provincial government of Agusan del Sur handed over PHP5 million in financial aid to Cebu province on Wednesday to support ongoing efforts to help residents recover from the effects of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake. Agusan del Sur Vice Governor Patricia Plaza personally gave the financial assistance, in the form of a check, to Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro at her office in the provincial government complex.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Cebu provincial government expressed gratitude in a statement, acknowledging the generosity and solidarity shown by the people of Agusan del Sur during this challenging period. The donation aims to support the recovery of communities in northern Cebu affected by the earthquake on September 30.

In a separate statement, Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane Jr. highlighted the critical role of unity among local government units in overcoming adversities. He emphasized that such support is essential for helping communities rebuild their lives after the disaster. The earthquake not only resulted in the loss of lives but also caused significant damage to homes and disrupted the livelihoods of many residents in Cebu province.
