Iloilo city: The government's humanitarian response to families affected by the weather disturbances has reached PHP53.63 million, the latest report from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) showed on Friday. Of the total, the DSWD distributed PHP46.31 million worth of assistance, consisting of PHP46.04 million in family food packs, and the rest in non-food items. The remainder came from local government units, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders.
According to Philippines News Agency, as of 10 p.m. on Thursday, the DSWD has recorded 111,384 families, or 413,248 individuals, affected by the weather disturbances. More than 48,000 families are from Negros Occidental, while nearly 30,000 households are from Antique. Iloilo province recorded 13,062 families, while Iloilo City has 11,648 affected families.
As of posting, 1,173 families remained in 86 evacuation centers, while 2,549 families were temporarily staying with their relatives and friends. The DSWD 6 (Western Visayas) has PHP112.02 million worth of available resources for its continuous relief operations.
