Albay: The provincial government of Albay has mandated the return of 104,703 families, consisting of 380,152 individuals, from evacuation centers where they sought refuge from Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi). This decision was made as the typhoon moves away from the region, allowing residents to return home safely on Sunday. According to Philippines News Agency, the decampment order was issued by Albay acting Governor Baby Glenda Ong Bongao, following an advisory from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council - Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (PDRRMC-APSEMO). The advisory highlighted the diminishing hazards associated with the typhoon, as well as the downgrading of the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in Albay by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Governor Bongao emphasized the responsibility of local authorities to ensure the safety of residents as they return to their communities. "The LGUs and Bar angay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs) are also required to lead the decampment of displaced residents, as well as the cleaning of temporary shelters and evacuation centers," she stated. In addition, Bongao announced the resumption of work in government offices, private sectors, and business establishments starting Sunday. The latest reports indicate that at least eight LGUs, including Sto. Domingo, Pio Duran, Malinao, Camalig, Tabaco City, Malilipot, Legazpi City, and Tiwi, have initiated the decampment process. As per PAGASA's 11 a.m. bulletin, Albay is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1, indicating that the threat level has decreased, paving the way for the safe return of evacuees to their homes.
