Albay: Learners from three public schools in Albay took part in the World Read Aloud Day celebration through their Albay Provincial Library and Information Center (APLIC) on Wednesday. Students, parents, and teachers from Albay Central School, Bagumbayan Central School, and EM's Barrio Elementary School attended the event held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall.
According to Philippines News Agency, Acting Vice Governor Rey Bragais emphasized the importance of reading, saying that it allows people, especially students, to learn new things and broaden their imagination. He encouraged all students to study hard, as it would help them achieve their goals in the future. Bragais also noted that the activity would boost students' confidence and enhance their oral communication skills.
At the event, students, along with a guest storyteller, read a story together aimed at inspiring young learners to develop a deeper appreciation for reading and to recognize its vital role in lifelong learning. Amelyn Bautista, Albay provincial librarian, remarked that the activity proved stories can bring everyone closer, entice imagination, and inspire everyday lives. Bautista also expressed confidence that the activity would further boost the learners' passion for reading.
World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) is a global campaign advocating for literacy and strives to make reading and writing accessible to the public.
