SHAH ALAM, Selangor FC midfielder Alex Agyarkwa has been sidelined for several months following a leg injury he sustained during the FA Cup final last week. Selangor FC chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said the Ghana-born player needs to rest for at least three months to undergo the rehabilitation process before being able to return to action. "Perhaps he needs to rest for three months, one month to recover from his injury and the rest for a recovery period to regain fitness before he can perform as usual. Alhamdulillah, the other players are in good condition physically, but emotionally, many are still affected by the defeat," he said when met at the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) Run for Merdeka here today. Earlier, the 25-year-old player shared in his Instagram page, an X-ray scan of his injured leg without giving any details, thus raising questions about the extent of the player's injury. In the FA Cup final against the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) team at the Bukit Jalil National Stadiu m last Friday, Agyarkwa had to be removed a few minutes before half-time and was replaced by Jordanian striker Reziq Bani Hani when Selangor was trailing 0-2. The match ended with JDT winning 6-1. Dr Johan Kamal said apart from the injured Agyarkwa, other players were also given enough rest for the 'recovery' process in terms of physical and mental before returning to continue the remaining matches of the Malaysian League this season. Selangor FC will resume their Super League campaign against Kuching City on Sept 13 before going to Thailand to face Muangthong United. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
