Manila: Transmission facilities in the Visayas affected by Tropical Depression Verbena have been fully restored, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced.
According to Philippines News Agency, the NGCP confirmed in its 5 p.m. advisory that the situation normalized following the restoration of the Paranas-Quinapondan 69kV line at 12:01 p.m., which serves the Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative Inc. (ESAMELCO).
The NGCP had earlier reported the restoration of other key lines, including the Ubay-Garcia 69 kilovolt (kV) line, servicing the Bohol II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BOHECO II); the Iloilo-Lapaz 69kV Line, serving MORE Electric and Power Corp. and the Iloilo 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ILECO I); and the Sta. Barbara-Miagao-San Joaquin 69kV Line.
The NGCP assured the public of ongoing monitoring of weather disturbances and readiness to activate its Overall Command Center (OCmC) if necessary to protect its transmission facilities.
Meanwhile, Verbena continues to impact the region with rains, and Typhoon Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains raised over several provinces in Luzon and the Visayas. The weather bureau's 5 p.m. bulletin indicated that Verbena's center was approximately 35 kilometers west of Cuyo, Palawan, moving westward at 25 kph, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness up to 70 kph.
