Manila: Listed renewable energy firm Alternergy Holding Corporation has retained majority ownership of the Tanay and Alabat wind power projects as part of a co-investment tie-up with ABC Energy Inc., valued at PHP2.4 billion.
According to Philippines News Agency, in a joint disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange, Alternergy and the subsidiary of A Brown Company Inc. announced that Alternergy will hold a 60-percent share in both the 128-megawatt (MW) Tanay Wind Corporation and the 64MW Alabat Wind Power Corporation. These power projects are currently in advanced stages of construction and are slated for completion next year.
The joint disclosure further detailed that the proceeds from the co-investment will bolster Alternergy's capital raising strategy, which aims to support its project pipeline across wind, solar, run-of-river, and battery storage sectors. This move is a part of Alternergy's broader initiative to enhance its renewable energy footprint.
The announcement also highlighted that the partnership with ABC Energy marks a pivotal development for the latter, especially following its divestment from coal power interests in Palm Concepcion Power Corporation in July 2025. "The investment by ABC Energy marks a significant step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio," the disclosure stated.
Alternergy President Gerry Magbanua expressed confidence in the collaboration, acknowledging the A Brown Company's extensive investment history in energy and resources development. He also noted the Brown family's enduring presence in the municipality of Tanay for over 90 years.
ABC Energy President Paul Juat emphasized the strategic importance of the investment, stating, "Our PHP2.4 billion investment represents the largest single investment across the A Brown Group to date and aligns with our strategy to accelerate green energy initiatives." He added that A Brown's presence in Tanay also extends to real estate holdings and development activities, contributing to the area's growth.
